I hadn't mentioned it before, mostly because the reality of the situation made it seem like the likelihood of this happening any time soon was real slim. But seeing as how it's already come to pass, I might as well let y'all know that for the past several months my mom has been trying to get our kitty Indya back home from Oklahoma.
A lot of you are too new to know, and a lot of you I'm sure forgot, but the reason I moved to Washington in the first place was because my mom was moving to Oklahoma. Long story short, we had two cats (Indya and Grenadine) and my mom took Indya with her to OK, while my older sister Carissa took Grenny (and subsequently, in a move that infuriated me beyond belief, gave her away in favor of another cat she then lost to animal services). After a few months of living-hell, my mom decided to turn tail and move back to California. Only this time, she didn't have anywhere to go where she could keep Indy. So she asked her friend, Janice, to watch Indy until we could pay to have her flown back; plan B being she'd drive out there and pick her up.
Indya is a really big part of our family. We got her shortly after our other cat, Aja (we had a misspelled-country-name theme back then, lol), had passed away. Indy was a wee lil baby kitty, and feral as all hell. She terrified my mom, who honestly wanted to just get rid of her. She even took up the space behind my moms bathrooms toilet, which meant my bathroom was crowded for a while there.
Because she was still so young, she still needed to be bottle-fed. Guess whose job it became! That's where I developed my high pain tolerance to cat scratches, haha, but it was all for the best. She soon went from a hissy-scratchy feral kitten to the most INSANELY LOVING cat I've ever come across EVAR.
She rubs all over everybody, purrs all the time, won't let me type because she's rubbing her head all over my hands (I mean she's doing that right now, too) and will sleep on your head. Literally on top of your head. She's such a love ball.
Wash is, of course, a little freaked. He's usually a really laid back cat, but he's never really been around other cats before so he's not sure what to do. She he just growls and hisses and keeps his distance, but it's mostly a curious sort of affair for him, not a real pissy kind of thing. Indya has been around worse cats, so she knows what to do. Soon enough they'll be the best of friends, just wait.
Okay, she's under my armpit, I should probably go and pet the ever loving crap out of her, then pet Wash for good measure.
