American

Well, I am now officially the wife of an American citizen. Ollie's citizenship ceremony was this morning and it was very nice. Me, my parents and my Uncle Ray were there to see 50 people become American citizens. There were several people from Africa (including, I believe, a refugee from Sudan.), also Poland, Russia, India, China, Venezuela, the UK, Netherlands, and several other countries. Every continent except Australia (well and Antarctica...) was represented. It was really very sweet. Boy Scouts were also there to present the flag. It was a nice warm fuzzy counterpoint to the awesome election & made me all happy & proud to be an American again. It would have been swell had the weather cooperated, but it was really cold and windy today with blowing snow and we had to park semi-far away, so that kinda sucked. Also, the Rotary had a little reception, but there was no cake! just muffins. I was kinda thinking cake would be good. Ollie wore his blue suit and looked very nice. We had to watch a video on Youtube last night to figure out how to tie a tie, because we are both morons, but the Internet saved the day, so maybe I should stop bashing it in front of the kids at school....

On a completly diferent note, I am somewhat astounded that I can buy gas for under $2.00 a gallon, I was pretty sure I wouldn't see that again.

In other news, Ollie's sister was nearly hit by a car that ran a redlight. She wasn't hit, but one of her 2 dogs was hit and killed. Then the asshole left the scene before the police came. This might have been because Katrin's boyfriend wanted to punch the guy, but still. Katrin is a big animal lover (she's been trying to tell Ollie that tofu for thanksgiving would be just as good. He has politely disagreed.) so she was obvious really upset, and hell, who would be freaking out if someone killed their pet in front of them? Ollie has talked to her and she is doing okay. So that's been the big drama in Germany, hopefully things will calm down.
