These are clickable thumbnails of our boys at home. There is also one of E at the team penning on Friday night. Yee ha, good clean fun! E got to stay up till past 1:00 a.m. and to go to Coffee Call (BR's version of New Orleans' Cafe DuMonde) and get beignets on the way home. She was the only kid at Team Penning wearing a helmet, but we are starting a new trend, I hope!!!
Note in the pics at home on the left as you face my horse my hurt-foot-boot from the Emergency Room. I rode anyway, cause I'm a cowgirl, BaaaBeee!
Friday, the fence man came and finished the fence. He was rude. He only put up one pole for the shed because he said he couldn't get to the other places -- it wasn't cleared enough for his delicate self. Okay for him - jerk.
Pedro and Lexie came for lunch and ate a lot of salad. We went out to Red Oak and loaded both my horses and brought them HOME! What a happy day. Dude (Red) got left here because he is hard to load, for now. Matt (Cimarron) got to continue on to pick up Pedro's horses and Vicky's horse and go on to team penning. They were LATE. E and I were there waiting and E was crying and fretting. I was kind of upset because of that, but things turned out just fine. E took Matty in and he would not go near the cows. LOL. A nice cowboy, Mr. Don, took her into the pen in the back when they were changing the cows so Matt could get to know them. Meanwhile, Lexie took Matt in on the next turn and she, as she can do with any horse, got him to perform pretty well. E took her next couple of turns although it didn't go much better.
I took her last turn. I was so excited I was thinking "What am I going to do?!!?" and then Matt took off so all I could think was "You better RIDE!!" I tried to look like I knew what I was doing, but I got in the way of Mr. Don's brother when he was turning #1 back toward the herd! At least I knew where I screwed up. I did good holding the cows and riding out.
The little girl with the bucking paint horse recognized Matt from going to camp at Red Oak. She proceeded to tell us all about him. Lexie entered to jackpot for money at the end of the team penning and almost won some money, by 2 seconds!!! By then E was trotting Matt around the parking lot and having no more nervousness. It was a good first run for her to take him somewhere and see how he would act. We got home, after stopping at Coffee call, about 1:30 and Pedro and Lexie got here about 2:30 with the horses. I tried to feed Matt, but he was so excited to see Dude that he just wanted to get into the pasture with him and "hug." The Filly ended up spending the night with out boys. I told Dave I put 2 horses in the pasture and they multiplied overnight. LOL.
Yesterday morning we got up early and I had my coffee watching the boys and the Filly in our very own pasture! We took each boy out and fed him and groomed him seprately and put them away. Things were going ever so well until I went to put the dog back on his outside chain. He tripped me and I landed on my foot with it bent. I heard it crunch! After about an hour of iceing it and soaking it, it still hurt and I couldn't put any weight on it, so I drove to the ER, essentially with my left foot, to get it x-rayed. More later -- its time to ride again.
