CHARACTERRR SURVEEEYYYYYY

forever in a state of W.I.P

Body and Appearance

1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

Gilbert is roughly 5'9 and he is actually pretty small framed compared to his little brother thanks to being malnourished. He has muscles and he's well shaped without being a steroid freak like Germany is. I see him as being a shoulder and arms kinda guy. He's definitely way stronger than he looks.

I actually have this weird head canon that once Germany started like SNAPPING SPOONS in half, Prussia became a bit more restrained and muted in his strength. Partially to avoid their squabbles escalating into full blood-bath, a personal model of "Big bros don't beat on little bros", and maybe subconsciously, the same kind of the same reaction as "my sister is the rebellious one, so I have to be the good one." Once that niche is filled, the sibling finds another one to fill mumbo-jumbo. But he is still strong and his pain tolerance, IS FUCKING AMAZING. This is a guy you can beat on. He can manhandle Germany into submission, it's just a lot of effort and probably not worth the bruises.

2. How old is he?

Looks young for his age, but is probably around 25-26.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?

Prussia is an interesting guy. At this point of his life, the confident, authoritative military posture is default. He can be pretty rigid like Germany is, especially when he's feeling tense or nervous. But when he's being lazy, he rivals America's slouch. Depends on the situation, who he's with, where, why, and how he's feeling.

An interesting fact about this is that in Germany back in the day, a main concern that children would have crooked backs. Mothers would do all kinds of crazy shit with their kids, including strapping them into "therapeutic" bed that would 'cause more harm than good. I can quote and give sources if anyone wants them but right now i'm lazy. But that makes me imagine all the germans fussing over Germany's posture as he grew up lol

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

He's fit but he doesn't work out as much so he's slowing down a little. But the only one who probably notices it is Germany? I give him the slightest touch of allergies since he's always sneezing.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

He is the bull in the glass shop. Think walking fucking disaster. But at the same time, he's a paradox. When he's by himself or doing something important, he's careful and just as controlled as Germany. I just think he's not really self aware? Gilbert has this really "ONE TRACK I can only FOCUS ON ONE THING" mindset. When other people are around, he loses that sense of self discipline and control. He's so distracted on his need to have everyone's attention and focus. Unless he's more focused on being ~*~*~Cool~*~*~*, any interaction with Prussia just degrades into immaturity and rowdiness. Throughout his country-hood, I think this would be the biggest aspect of Prussia that got him in trouble.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?

HE'S PERFEAUTIFUL, MOTHERFUCKERS. Okay, not really. To be honest, I believe that all the nations are attractive in some way. They're nations. They're unnatural. Why would they be homely? Prussia, I would put him on almost equal footing facially with Germany and Austria. To me, considering his coloring, he's actually pretty delicate....when he's not smiling. It's the shit-eating grin that puts all the gruff in him.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Palee as all shit. Fair, fair fair fair.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
...Ask hidekaz.  But I put it as...I want to say desaturated  Wheaty color. His hair can be kinda wavy/slightlycurled depending on the weather. He has really nice feathery hair. All the germans have nice hair thanks to Germania.

9. What color are his eyes?

...Ask hidekaz. Though, if we have to get irl about it, I put them as an actual pretty  greyish purplish red.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

Scars. They're splashed across his skin like freckles seriously.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
...does this mean parts of him that show he's angry? He's a chronic lip biter, chewer, pouter etc. Otherwise he's a foot stomper, hand slammer, head shaker. The thing about Prussia is he has no fucking emotional control, when he's upset, he starts lashing out. So...EVERYTHING is a tension center or HE HAS NONE. Idk. Can his voice be a tension center?

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

Rainbow unicorn skittled attention whore. That's his wardrobe. HE HAS A HUGE FUCKING CLOSET. YOU CAN FIND EVERYTHING IN THERE. He has no fixed style I think. He wears whatever he thinks suits the situation. He can dress like a emo hipster one day ,and then come out an hour later dressed all classy. I like to believe he knows how to dress himself thanks to being friends with France and Spain, but sometimes he can be like a four year old and decide that Superman capes are really cool and everyone should wear them.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

Yess. He tends to wear fitted clothing but i think when he wants to be "young", he leans towards baggy clothing and acts ike a delinquent.

WEIRD HEADCANON: Him and Germany fight over vests, jackets and sweaters all the fucking time. Prussia is like the Nordics in being kinda oblivious to the cold and Germany does. not. understand. this. no matter how many times Prussia tells him he's fine, he's always insisting on him wearing something, while Prussia's always insisting that it is way too fucking hot for stuff.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

See above! Ofc he dresses sharply when he has to be important and cool.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

Boxerbriefs. He doesn't like the feeling of extra fabric riding up his butt, but he owns boxers and he's german so I can't see him going commando unless he was doing it to annoy someone.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

Like nails being dragged down a chalkboard while someone beats a squealing pig to death.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

LOUD. FAST. EASILY. He is like adhd meets schizophrenia. Mix that with a decreased need for oxygen, military service, leadershipskills, a grating voice and no mind to mouth filter, and you have Prussia. When he slows down, his voice is really not that bad. He sounds more intelligent when he's not vomiting words everywhere. He also has a good commanding voice. Training soldiers means you learn how to make your voice strong and carrying.  In general, the more upset he is, the harsher his tone gets. Angry Prussia, is an intimidating Prussia. Think Germany's normal voice only with ten times more venom. It's really rare for him to get pushed to speak in this way. YOU KNOW YOU'VE REALLY FUCKED UP when Prussia is giving you a personal tongue lashing.

He gets headaches when he has to yell at people ):

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

Lalala we know all this. All the nations know a little bit of everything. Anyone he's lived with for some time, he's fluentish in their language.

When he has to get stern with Germany, I see him switching to an older form? of German. I'm no expert on language but I know dialects/outdated versions exist. Whatever way he spoke when Germany was a child, he slips into when he's miffed about one thing or another. It's a psychological intimidation move and it either works, or blows up in his face.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

He speaks faster than he can think, so nope. He can give pretty impressive speeches if he plans them out before though

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Inarticulate. I think most of his vocabulary is probably military related so that's why it's so hard for him to sound fancy pants like Germany and Austria. Also he reads a lot less than they do. But give him pen and paper, some quiet time, gentle reminders to focus and he can spit out something more complex and sophisticated. Also, RPing. He is the biggest Gary Stu, pretentious rper out there.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?

I want to say he's really intelligent. But not in the standard educated way. He's definitely Street-smart with a shit load of War-smarts thrown in with a plethora of survival skills  and maybe medical training thrown in. He seems to be of high intelligence though, when he wants to learn something, he can teach it to himself in a short period of time. It's all about if he feels like it to be honest. He's a deceptive character, it's hard to really peg what his abilities are since in canon, his other side is only hinted at and not fully expressed. He's also the worst teacher ever though when it comes to information. He's better instructing things that are more hands on.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

Prussia cannot into the thinking before he does anything, so yeah, "thinking" on his feet. Judging by his track record, I think it's safe to say that usually his impulses are sometimes good!! Battle wise!! In other settings, it just gets him in trouble with West.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

Prussia doesn't have a consistent style... I just think he's a bit of all the above. Depends on the whens, wheres and whys.

4. What kind of education has the character had?

All kinds! Childhood to the 1500's, I see him being taught  basic country/survival/self care things by Germania at first, then religious things mainly but a strong focus on mastering weapons. He's a pro with the sword but a lousy archer.  My basis for this is that an Archer needs immense concentration and focus, even among extreme distractions, Prussia only has that 40% of the time. You can't take your eyes off your target. To Prussia, wielding a bow and arrow isn't as fun? To him it's like being a sitting duck. He doesn't like being in the sidelines, he wants to be bloody and stampeding in the center of the battlefield.

I see him only getting his really formal education as Duchy, with Lithuania, Brandenburg, and  HRE probably helping him along and it was later polished up by Fritz and his other bosses. So around the 1600's -1700's he started getting real lessons and IT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Especially his bosses he had during kingdom were really harsh with him and his education because back then anyone around the king couldn't be acting like an unruly,  knight. Prussia himself can be the worst fucking student ever or one of the shining best. Depends on the subject. I can't see him caring much for literature unless it's really, really entertaining.

Modern day though: He's really adaptable and that's why he's manage to stick around through everything. He's not phased by new fangled things. Technology he admires and respects and tries to understand completely. He's knows the best way to learn  is to jump head first into it and live it.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

See above! Anything involving planning, strategy, fighting etc suits him.  Anddd as for interests, I see him being a computer nerd like Estonia but probablyyyy leaning towards social media/ gamer nerd. He's friends with America, so anything that's young and cool to be interested in, Prussia's there.

Is it weird I see him loving public demonstrations? Things like protests and the occupiers. It's a part of him that's left over from being GDR. He loves the occupy movement at his place and probably can be found when they gather, walking around chanting his ass off.

I think around the 1920-1980's, He shifted inside. So to me, Prussia, as East Germany, will always be loyal to the people before he's loyal to the state.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

mann ngl, I really hate these terms because I feel they have no more value than horoscopes and online personality quizzes /skips question

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

All of the above. He flips wildly between moods and can be pretty unpredictable.  He's prone to tantrums despite being 3403945309530953 years old. If you upset him enough, he'll roll around on the floor and cry about how much of a jerk you are. He likes getting his way and he will do anything to get it! He sometimes takes it too far and then tries to make up for it by being super reasonable but by then everyone is fed up with him.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

Again, depends on the who, and when and where. He usually comes bursting with confidence and noise, but if the person doesn't react in a way, it flusters and confuses him and then he gets violent and aggressive if not intimidated. Either way, he's loud. Women he tends to be shyer around until he's sure where the limits are.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

Act.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?

FIGHTTTT. He only flights once he thinks things might get painful. He's good at judging when he has to do either.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

HE CAN BE KINDA LAME HONESTLY. GERMANS CAN'T TELL JOKES. He's unintentionally funny sometimes though.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

Not in canon. I could peg him with a bunch of stuff he has but then this thing would get so tl;dr.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
His life has been too loooonngggggg for me to really peg anything? We all know he gets depressed over fritz and that time period so I like to think that's when Prussia came into himself and finally became an adult.

14. What does he fear?

Being forgotten/disappearing, small spaces, that West will one day seriously hate him.

Russia. Well, not like real fear, but he doesn't like being around him when he's alone.

For some reason, I can't really think of his fears. I feel like what he was scared of, already happened to him and he got through it.  He's at the point where he's lost everything and the only thing he's worried about now is losing more of his brothers. He worries because Germany's birthrate is low and some wild, jump-to-conclusion predictions say that if it stays this way, the germans will go extinct and Prussia's like "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESTT, WE GOTTA MAKE BABIES OR WE'RE FUCKING GONNA DIE!"

He might have a small aversion to cats since they jump on him when he's over at  Greece,  England's cooking, Ghosts, Demons, Roaches, Hungary in general, Zwei. etc. I might add to this later. I can see him disliking eye doctors too.

I see him having a general fear of sickness.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?

To be strong and important agaiiinn onee dayyyy.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?

That he gets scared about his statusof a nation. That sometimes he misses living with the commonwealth, that sometimes he feels the slightest twinge of resentment towards West. That he has a big fat fanboy crush on Brandenburg still. That sometimes gilbird poops in his hair and he just wipes it off and doesn't wash his hair for a week, that he eats things from the floor,

Headcanon wise? That he's more serious about photography and writing than he appears.
