Another prep week done

May 14, 2010 15:38

So, I've come to the end of another prep week.  This year, I noticed some trade-offs, and they happen pretty much every year.  For instance, I didn't actually 'finish' the grid all the way to the end of next June, but the seasons of Advent and Lent (along with Christmas Eve and Good Friday) are all planned out.  Why not Easter?  Well, Easter is really the 'easy one' - it's a celebration of life, and I'd done a whole whack of symbols and symbolism in the seven weeks before!  Easter gets to be a laid-back, "let's celebrate the fact that Jesus was raised for us!" kind of day!

I also didn't go into the books as much as I'd hoped - that is, the prep books.  I don't know how many hours I actually worked per day - today amounts to about four and a half, the other days were more than eight but less than the twelve they might have been.  At issue is the simple fact that time, when you're engrossed in study and work, just bleeds away.  I mean, I'd look up at my watch and it'd be 1:30, and I hadn't stopped for lunch yet.  Go get lunch, eat with a game or a movie, get back to work around 3, then stop at, oh, 7:30 or so.  Conversations with home, searches for this and that and, before you know it, it's 9:00 and your brain just won't handle any more!

So does this still work?  Absolutely.  Like it or not, this is a valuable week for me;  I just wish I could make it a different week that didn't trample over our anniversary!  But with Mother's Day (pretty much have to be in the pulpit for that) on the 2nd week of May and baseball starting after the May24 weekend (really should have practices beforehand), this is the only week left at the moment!

The kids won't be in the house forever - that's both a curse and a blessing in some ways, as I know that these will be much simpler weeks when they're not at home any longer.  I won't be coaching... yeah, I'm going to miss that...

Life moves on.  Thanks, Lord, for giving me what I have.
