the summer was...

coming to an end for me. being free of school, work, and any other responsibility allowed me to do more than i have done in a long time. a whole month of doing everything i never knew i had wanted to do has past; rescuing girls from moshpits, going to the batting cages alone, mad libs on the trolley cars by the waterfront, spending an entire day in the kiddie pool at a waterpark, going back to old schools and reminiscing, shooting weeds, going on a road trip with my sister, bringing a giraffe to life.

stopped thinking and started doing. stopped writing and started talking.

when summer ends, my freedom will fall. once again to be put on autopilot of going to school and work. before that day came, i was set on sprinting out the last days i have in the summer to the finish. to set off on a road trip with an idea. an idea that would span the western united states from north to south. this idea came in the form of a paycheck that i had forgotten to pick up at red robin, my old job. $300. to do whatever i want! i could go out and get an ipod, buy some vid games, or go to school in style with my member's only jacket and jeans with pre-cut holes in them.

i'd rather invest in seeing my good friends. delivering blank sheets of paper sealed in an envelope to my friends in person. they wouldn't need to know how i did from words on paper! they'd hear it from me. everything was in place. my dad didn't understand why i had to do this, but was supportive enough to change the oil and fill up the gas tank to the old grey blazer. my mom made sandwiches for my trip and filled up a cooler full of fruits and beverages. no one knew why i had to do this. not even me. i guess i'll figure that out when i get back...
