Last night went really well. As planned, we met at BarLola, a colorful and comfortable Spanish tapas restaurant on the corner of Comm and Dartmouth here in the Back Bay. The restaurant was surprisingly empty for a 6:00 dinner date and in fact we were the only ones there until we were about halfway through our meals.
Vish is really cute. He's Indian, as I mentioned, and he wears black-framed glasses - something I equate with sexy and sophisticated. He's definitely a neurosurgeon and he fascinated me throughout the dinner with his role in the medical world, how he got to where he did, and where he plans to go. For someone like me, who has been around medical professionals for my entire life, I was shocked at how little I actually know (about medicine). To all that, I said, "Well I bet I can still speak German better than you." He was a lot more outgoing than I thought he would be. I got the impression that he was a quiet and reserved person but in fact quite the opposite was true. He had a lot to say, and I listened. Maybe I was nervous (or cold) (or both), but I didn't really say a whole lot. I wish I shined more than I did.
I guess it worked, though, since we plan on seeing each other on Saturday. He is currently on a 30-hour shift at NEMC, so I won't even think of bothering him until then.
