As a work-place pro, I've found that ignoring is the worst thing you can do.
Two successes I have experienced with my fellow working man:
* After work social situations where problems are clearly defined and hopefully resolved, or at least acknowledged and aired out.
* Overcoming the offender with professionalism, regardless of how unprofessional the situation or setting is. It is a business, you can be professional flipping burgers. Also, this method always wins against someone who isn't using the same strategy.
