Derby City Council are trying to close down a very much loved alternative pub.
They want to improve the look of the area as it is opposite Derby train station, they can still do this without closing down the pub, but proposals have been made for commercialization and many buildings will be torn down
The Vic Inn is a great little place, supporting local bands to huge signed acts but always with a punk/ska/alternative edge.
Many bands played there first ever gig at the Vic and it holds happy memories for any alternative kid in Derby and the surrounding area
Last year alone 80,000 people walked through its doors, people regularly travel from all over the Midlands to see bands play.
I'm sure most towns/cities have a pub like this, so you can identify with how precious this place is to the Derby alternative music scene.
