For those of you who were interested, I figured I would post a health update for you.
After I wrote my last entry I finally got a full night's sleep, but when I got up in the morning, I got scared because I was feeling the same type of chest pains that I felt on Monday, only in a different spot. Although I didn't really think so, it might have been that the blood clot had moved or a new one had formed, so my parents took me to the hospital just to be safe.
However, it was a false alarm. Dr Tassan came in and said that, unfortunately, pain and discomfort are part of the healing process since the bloodclot will remain in my body for 4-6 weeks, and that the pain I was experiencing seemed normal because it was in the exact spot where the blood clot was. I didn't understand at first why my mid-chest had hurt so badly on monday and now it was my right side, but he explained that sometimes pain perception is off and although the pain may "travel," the source of the pain remains stationary.
So, they took a catscan just to be safe, and nothing had changed. However, Dr Tassan said he was very happy that I came in anyway because it shows that I am alert and responsive to the signals my body is giving me and he also got to see that my blood was responding well to the anti-coagulation therapy. They gave me two perkisets (BIG mistake...I got all loopy and nauseous and threw up my dinner), prescribed me some pain killers, and sent me on my way. Since I don't like the way the painkillers make me feel, I've basically decided to deal with the pain on my own (which sucks, but it's better than being loopy and nauseous).
I went to the doctor's today to get my blood tested, and man, they were right about the bleeding more thing. They pricked my finger, and instead of them having to squeeze it to get any droplets, it just started gushing. I don't like that very much. I have to go to the doctor's office every few days to get my finger pricked and my blood tested so that they can adjust my blood-thinning medication to its ideal level...WOO, what fun!
Well, I think that's it for now. If you have any questions, feel free to IM me. And leave comments. I love comments. K? Thanks, bye.
