This would be a lot less interesting if the music weren't also good; as it is it's pretty amazing, both in concept and execution. Eric Whitacre posted a video of him conducting the piece (to an empty room), and then received submissions of people singing the music to his conduction; the videos got cleaned up and temporally aligned and then used to produce the final work.
