So I'm in the brainstorming process of coming up with a filmed episodic web series (10 min. each) in an Arrested Development/It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia style. It's based on caricatures of everyone that lives in my house in fictional situations-- essentially four roommates in the "alternative" art scene are trying to make it amidst the chaos of San Francisco living and an economy in recession. The characters are Matt-- a white Jewish Rastafarian art curator attempting to put meaning in some of the most inane meaningless pieces of "found" art, Josh and Orlando-- two porn PA's by day who are trying to create an underground sock show by night (not for kids), and Marli-- a disillusioned barista trying to make it as an avant garde experimental filmmaker.
I'm excited to see where this can go... as it's the best exposure to put a comedy based show onto youtube/vimeo and it won't cost much as Orlando and Josh have access to all of the equipment from their work (and same day checkout too!). I'm excited that Josh really likes the idea and is excited about the project and we've been coming up with ideas together. Orlando is a bit of a toughie because he has a different sense of humor/has a complete different idea as to what the show is-- but I think I'm going to leave the ideas up to Josh and I for the most part.
In other news... French is hard! I've been taking a French class and I love learning this language as it truly is one of the most beautiful, eloquent languages-- but I'm struggling with the accent and verbal comprehension. It's much easier to read it as it is with most languages (unless you're studying a language with a whole different alphabet altogether, ouch). I'm hoping this will come in handy if I join Peace Corps (and go to W. Africa), but additionally I joined an au pair web site just to see what would happen. So far an Italian family in Venice is interested in me-- I haven't replied back to them yet, though. I just moved back to SF, and although being an au pair would be quite the experience, I do want to settle down here for just a while longer. Their kids are 7 and 15... I think being 15 with an au pair is weird... but 7 is a good age as I have never changed a diaper and I have experience tutoring kids in that age group-- but I'm more interested in being an au pair in France, Belgium, or maybe Switzerland.
So overall, I'm doing fine... but my heart is a bit broken. I think I'll talk about that more when I'm not in the heat of it.
