verbal bitch-slap
I woke up in a better mood, i was going to give today a chance. I get ready for work and (somewhat) record time-- and because i'm only running 5 minutes later than i'd like i decide it'd be safe to make a trip to Giant to grab that 400 calorie protein drink for breakfast (because i'm out of cereal and keep forgetting to go to the store on my way home). So i hop on in to the store, buy my drink, leave, and i'm driving around that turn with the starbucks and the awkward stop sign where in the morning there are a bunch of guys sitting, i'm assuming waiting to be offered construction work (there is a lowes or home depot or something right next door). I stop at the awkward stop sign (sort of) and one of the guys whistles (ugh) and then makes these gross lip licking/sucking sounds. I really. really. really. wanted to get out of my car (not that that would solve anything, i'm a 5'8 white girl in heals and a dress). I shake it off.
I'm at work and i'm doing mostly reception today because Lenora is out of the office for two weeks and they need me to do retainer agreements and stuff and one of Jo's rich and famous friends calls (i googled his name and it pops up with a bunch of real articles in magazines like forbes etc) and here is the verbal bitch-slap:
me: Good morning, thank you for calling the carlberg law firm, this is katie.
him: hi, this is Blah-blah blah, is Jo in yet?
me: Yes she is, let me see if i can get her on the line for you, can you hold one second?
him: sure
:: at this point i call Jo's office, no answer, i call Ashley in the back and she hasn't seen Jo and was pretty sure she went upstairs, i ask Tanya and she hasn't seen her either, i try jo's office again, nothing.::
me: Hi sir, i can't seem to find Jo, i could give her a mesage or---
him: you cant find Jo? what do you mean you can't FIND her?
me (a little taken aback): well...she's not in her office and she's not down here or on the third level... i could walk around the office and look for her if you like.
him: yeah well this is important, i really need to speak with her.
me: ok... hold on one moment please.
:: now i'm a lil perturbed, there is no need to be rude, and expecting me to want to walk around the office is a little ridiculous.whatever, and what am i supposed to do? make her magically appear? I get to the second level and she's not in the bathroom-- which was my first guess-- and she wasn't in her office but she WAS in Dem's office. Dem has his DND (do not disturb) light turned on on his phone and he gets really cranky when ANYONE, especially me for some reason, tries to interrupt. I stand outside in the hall for a couple minutes and give up on waiting because the conversation about some client sounds heated. I go into Jo's office and pick the phone back up::
me: hi sir, it seems that Jo is in a meeting with an associate. I can keep you on hold until she's out, or take a message for her of give you her voice--
him: ugh, i really need to speak with her immediately. Tell her to call my home number (123) 45 (mumble) (mumble).
::meanwhile i'm searching for a pen, well aware that jo has this guys home number, address, cell, work, fax, and probably social.
me: i'm sorry sir could you repeat that for me?
him: .... (123) 456 (mumble) 90
me: i'm sorry could i get those last 4?
him:...ugh... (then almost yelling) 7890
me:... thank you i'll give her the message.
maybe i can't show the jerkiness in print... but what a morning. tanya tried to say he's just a smart ass but no, he was a prick.
It doesn't help that i didn't buy tickets to that concert this weekend cuz i wasn't sure if i'd be able to make it time-wise but i also didn't save the money for the ticket so i'm not sure if i can go money-wise. it's not a lot, but that isn't a point... i have a minimum i will let my account fall to and it's there, so i can't just keep spending money. well, actually it says i have a lot in my account but that's becuase my rent hasn't been deposited yet, 600 has to go to my computer (speaking of which, i have to find that card again so i can start paying it off), and 200 is reimbursement for a credit card purchase i made for the office. So really: i'm broke.
wednesday i have a physical, blood work, and a few shots. (30 for one, 25 for another, another is free)
monday is pay day.
around (or after) the 10th i get a letter about nursing...assuming it's yes i get drug tested and a background check ($84)
July 26 i learn CPR ($95 bc i have to get the healthcare professional version)
July 28 and 29 i have off work and my boss is letting me use her awesome condo is annapolis with a pool and balcony that overlooks the bay.
August 2 is Hershey Park with my mom and lil sis
August 25 classes start
Hopefully i can make it to the dentist before the end of the summer...
Hopefully i hear back from financial aid so i can know for sure all these school expenses are going to be reimbursed as well...
September 1 my lease is up... if we stay our rent increases from 1135 to 1199. that place isn't worth 1200 a month, i'll tell you that much. i'll keep calling the merrifield rental office (please please please) Personally i wouldn't mind living in that springfield place... it's close to school and a tiny bit closer to people (i think a better neighborhood) but i don't think it'll help lotus that much so i'm sure she's less interested than i am. Rent is cheap there tho, 1100-something for a 2 bed 2 bath if i remember correctly. We''ll see what happens with merrifield... and maybe springfield has no openings too.
