So by now I’m sure you’ve all seen
naty_’s scorchingly hilarious vid of VM:FBI, but I was talking to
ladypuppy about it, and I was shocked to learn that she was not familiar with
naty_’s other work. I guess a lot of people who came to VM late are not aware of all the genius creative work -- vids, fic, and more -- that was pouring out of the fandom during season 1 and the following summer. The thought of a VM fan having never seen “A Better Son” is bizarre to me.
Just when I had fished it out of my saved fanvids file and was about to upload it to yousendit, I realized that it might be on youtube, which it was. Then, overcome by a wave of nostalgia for Season 1, I started to see if my other old favorites were there. And several were. So for those newbies on my f’list who found this show on DVD, or for anyone who wants to take a stroll down memory lane back to when we were all pretty much on the same page about how much we loved these characters, I give you:
My favorite L/V fanvid:
Bring Back the Sun by mgclark2 (
ladypuppy says the song is cheesy; those of you who know my taste in music are forewarned). (According to the site, you can also download a high-quality version (34 MB)
here.) And:
My favorite Veronica Mars fanvid favorite fanvid ever favorite thing ever made out of moving pictures:
Logan Echolls: A Better Son by
naty_ (I happen to believe that the moment this vid hit the fandom was the moment Logan became the central character of Veronica Mars (since he's the only one who has an actual arc). But don't tell KBell.)
Also, in proof that the internet hates me, I wrote up a long post two days ago addressing fandom issues, fanhate, issues with
grave_watchers, etc. But since I had posted it to myself first and then attempted to change the date on it when I made it public, I screwed it up, and it ended up buried in the back pages of most people’s friends page. You can see it if you go to
my journal. I won't give the direct link, since there are cuts for the extremely spoilerphobic, although there are no actual spoilers in it.
It’s weird that you can post a late-night rant about how much you hate the FBI idea and have it end up all over the internet, but when you write something thoughtful that you really do want people to read, it gets completely ignored. *sigh*
