What, is it like, you're afraid you might jinx yourself if you thank the Lord for how well everything is going? I know that's how it is for me. I know it sounds weird, but as soon as I acknowlege how good things are going and say 'thanks', then everything just goes....wrong. I make it a point not to "jinx myself" if-you-know-what-i-mean. And that's not exactly a good thing.
No. Its like you're suppose to seek God whether things are good or bad or regular. So basically all the time, no matter what. But when things are going good, you kinda get this attitude like you don't need to seek Him anymore because you have everything under control. Its kinda like "oh everythings great why do I need to read my bible.
-i don't want to speak for danielle or anything, but that's what it's like for me if it makes any sense.
Rhio, that is why this faith is harder than just loving your neighbor, because if you really believe in Him you will want to seek after Him even when everything is good (although it is not easy..."narrow is the gate") and when he puts a trial on your plate then that is when you thank Him even more, because He is giving you a chance to trust in Him and to grow in your faith
"...when he puts a trial on your plate then that is when you thank Him even more, because He is giving you a chance to trust in Him and to grow in your faith."
I just find that hard to grasp. I guess it's because I don't see why anyone would want to thank the Lord for making your life a drag just to strengthen your faith in Him and become closer to Him- hell, that would push me farther away if anything. And that's basically what it's done.
However, I DO believe in God/Jesus whatever. I think I need you guys to explain what exactly it means to "seek the Lord", though.
And the reason why I'm into the Buddhism idea such as, loving your neighbor as yourself, is because it seems to be more fulfilling than the Christian religion alone. I see Buddism as your fulfillment here on earth on a personal level with yourself. And obviously, Christianity is more about on spiritual level with the Lord, which I believe is also necessary to have in your life to achieve this "fulfillment" that I speak of.
k I can't tell you an exact definition because I think it is different depending on the type of person you are but I can tell you what it means to me and maybe others can tell you what it means to them if their opinion is different. To me seeking the Lord is coming to Him daily and dying to myself and living for Him, it means reading His word and asking Him to speak to my heart through it and to give me an understanding of what he is trying to tell me, it means I talk to Him, through prayer, and let Him know what I need help with and then trusting in Him to help me through it. If you need more on seeking Him just let me knnow because I could say more
( ... )
That was an understandable explanation. I have a few other things I don't understand about Christianity- I'll make an entry about it eventually, then maybe you can put in your two cents.
