star wars in the classroom, always a good idea!

I am going to be a horrible teacher!!!

So I got to the Middle School and am told that Ms. Shirley won't be in the class, which means I am in charge... which means more work for me... so I go in the connected Math room and luckily only 7 students show up... one being Nelson of course. So I get in the room, take attendence and get everyone to work and tell Nelson to get to detention... because he got detention from last week because he didn't do his homework, like he promised me he would... so he goes until 3pm, which gives me a half hour to get the other kids going... which wasn't as easy as it sounds... Dylan decided to be a pain and keep talking, he claimed he had no work so I told him to read a book, and then, by some miracle, he had work to do... wow... amazing, huh? and Alex kept playing games, so I had to keep monitoring him... and then Nelson came back and decided to play with his cell phone so I had to take it away... and stand over him while he did his work... and then Alex and I started talking about Star Wars and I used Star Wars to help one of the students do their homework... I am a geek and can relate star wars to almost anything... sad? I know... but oh well... so everyone does their work and at 3:30pm I send them on their way but Nick and kelsey and Nelson stay and I can't leave until everyone else leaves... so I hang around and basically Nelson gives me a hard time about leaving and I don't get home until 4:30pm

and did I mention I am sick still??? not cool and last night I am pretty sure I had a fever... had all the symptoms so I tossed and turned and got little sleep last night, fun fun fun... and this cough is annoying me... it's at it's worst in the morning...

I had three classes back to back and in my first class I had my quiz and we discussed the Great Depression, fun stuff... and then in adolescent delevopment we did... you guessed right... absolutely nothing... we talked about our case studies we have to do and shared our students... and then we asked when our scrapbooks were due and it took the whole hour and 15 minute block for the professor to tell us when they were due... that class drives me nuts... if it wasn't required, I would have so dropped it!.. and then in European history, which Dr. Quinn and I have a meeting tomorrow afternoon... I love him... he was hilarious today as always... "Hitler paints houses, we'll manage him"... "Hitler doesn't take power with a tank... he takes power with a shake of the hand"... "the storm troopers are marching!"... "Hitler had a way of hooking up with kids, kids got chocolate and pictures taken with him... he's like santa"... "England and France sent Hitler notes... 'we're not happy with you'... Hitler's reply? 'good for you'"... that is why I love Dr. Quinn...

I need to read the Hiding Place for Tuesday.. I need to read a book I haven't even gotten yet for Monday and write a paper on it... I have to write a paper for Thursday... I have a midterm tomorrow... I have to read a lot for tomorrow and do a discussion question... I have readings for thursday... I have a exam and a scrape book due Tuesday... my portfolio for education is due next thursday, I need to read a lesson before dying for the week after next... I have another quiz in a week and my learning logs are due within the next two weeks... so who will have no life? me... thats right... because throw in the actually going to classes, the volunteer work, working, and I will be having no social life for awhile.. or a very small social life...

so Nazi's were called Storm Troopers... which means... I have decided to try and base a paper on comparing star wars to history... trust me... it will work...

and for the record my children will not get beat up on the playground, everyone thinks they will... but they won't... at least I am not naming my kid Wedge Antilles... I thought about it... but then the kids would call him Wedgy and give him wedgies and that'd just me mean, so I will refrain from naming a son after my favorite character... sad, but true...

I am in the mood for chocolate covered strawberries... yum...

I think its just because I didn't have lunch today and its almost dinner time...

I don't want to do classes anymore...

and I recommend everyone take Latin American History at Rhode Island College with Dr. Espinosa because its amazing and he is hilarious... he is Rhode island College's version of Dr. Quinn and if you have never had Dr. Quinn, boy are you missing out on a great time.

history, nazis, hitler, wedge, dr. quinn, star wars, food, community service
