Well last night me and Helen got the train to Liverpool for the premiere of Dead Set (Starting on E4 on 27th Oct).
We dressed as zombies to get into the spirit of things, and we were the only ones who did so...but I don't mind that, we made a amusing video which will be on facebook in the next few days.
So two hours on the train playing with fake blood and skin we arrived.
Everyone was impressed with our efforts though, and pictures will also go up on facebook soon.
We sat ready for it to start, there was no introduction to it, it suddenly appeared. The actual film not filling the whole screen (which really annoyed me!).
To be honest I didn't have much expectations on the content.. I mean it's zombies, there is only so much you can do. There have been so many films e.g dawn of the dead, land of the dead, evil dead etc so you expect guts, cannabalism and the odd comedy moment.
I think that is why I was bored after a while. There were some horrific graphic moments (like Davina McCall zombie munching on some poor victims leg) along with intestine...but there were so many moments like that so you acclimatise to it, and aren't shocked which I think was the opposite of what Charlie Brook desired.
The idea/context of the story was interesting- the idea that the safest place is the big brother house which provides a brilliant social comment. A few familiar faces pop up includng Brian who won last time, along with ziggy, Imodgen etc. I feel they only did it for the extra cash however. The novelty of the Big Brother idea however wears thin after about 30 mins.
There is no reason for the zombie outbreak (which always pisses me off, I don't know why because sometimes if its left a mystery the unkown is scarier) but in Dead Set it was all a little random. It concludes a little badly too.
Hey ho, was still a good time, me and Helen had such a laugh, especially on the way back on the train...we were lying on Manchester Piccadilly station moaning "brraaiinnnssss" to much amusement to ourselves..!
We also debated whether vegetarian zombies would survive...and where they would be kept!
So keep eyes peeled zombie lovers for the pictures...
So tired now tho, didn;t get back til 1 am this morning..work is annoying me!!
Adios
