Hello!

Damini, Shalini and I are going on an overnight trip to Mysore, leaving tomorrow (Wed, 6th Nov) and returning the day after (Thursday, 7th Nov.)

Shalini will come from Indira Nagar and pick me up at 4.15am. We then go to meet Damini near Kanakpura Road and we proceed.

We are combining a little camera repair work in Mysore with two sessions of birding.

Drive to Mysore, and go to the camera workshop, Bina Camera Works, run by my friend K U Varghese, location:

We give our camera/lenses for repair.

Go to Kukkerahalli Kere and be there by 4.30pm, and go around the lake until dusk.

We have dinner and go to the Youth Hostel at Gangotri Layout, where there is a clean, comfortable dormitory (separate floors for men and women, I have often stayed there) and spend the night. Clean sheets and pillowcases are provided, and there is hot water available from early morning.

(Rs.300 per night per person, does not include food. We generally eat at some local Darshini.)

The Youth Hostel was full so I booked Aishwarya Royal at 2 X 1764. It was bang opposite St Philomena's Church, a very big bonus. Good hotel, clean room and toilet. The Udupi Hotel, good food and service, almost next door (to the left as we face the hotel), good parking in basement though we had a bit of delay on 7th morning because the car was stuck at the back. Parking on the road opposite during daytime was also easy. Location:

We eiither check out before or after the lake visit, depending on the situation.

We drive to Lingambudhi lake, reaching there by 6.30am, and walk around until 9am approx.

We have breakfast somewhere,return to the hostel if necessary to check out, and drive back to Bangalore in time for lunch. Budget for 1pm arrival approx.

We have one seat free in the car, so if anyone is interested, please let me know. We will be happy to have your company. If you are bringing your vehicle, you can park it safely at the Mini Forest area,location:

Costs:

1. Sharing of fuel costs.2. Meal costs3. Accommodation at the Youth Hostel.

It says 6am to 6pm, but Tanuja says the gates are closed at 9 or 9.30am. In any case we will stop by about 9am or so.

Kukkarahalli Lake timings are also given as 6am to 6pm. I think we should be there by about 4.30.

We visited Naguvanahalli on the way home, stopped at Mahadevapura bridge. Reached home at 8.30pm. Lunch at Maharaja Grand (so so food, I had the south Indian thaali, Rs.160)
