Back home, morning walk, 230724

Back to my old haunts.

DnAKK are here for a month.

They are staying in their old apartment building. So I am going to be shuttling back and forth at least for this month. I went over last evening, and had a nice session of Dumb Charades, followed by a very disturbed night when none of us jet-lagged people could sleep properly.

My walk back, early this morning, in the cool, cloudy weather.... so satisfying. Watched the newspaper delivery boys and the milk packet delivery boys going about their work. In just three months, some shops have changed their names, others, thankfully, remain in business. The iddli and puri food carts have begun to make the food and steam issues from them. A temple has illuminated the road with lights, which welcome me back warmly.

I hear the familiar calls of the crows, the mynas and the burbling, liquid song of the bulbuls. The trees, my old friends, greet me...Honge, Akasha Mallige, Kadamba, Sampige....a fine misty rain drizzles on me, as if in benediction.

I am home again, and it's a deep, inarticulate happiness, which I am trying to express in words that are insufficient.
