We went for a walk in Juanita Bay Park: Derek, Monica, Kavya, Kalyan, Nathan, Ellie and I. Anjana dropped us off and went to retrieve the "nerve gun" which K2 had bought in Value Village but left behind. Rainy, but very enjoyable time.

I was completely foxed by this bird, which I saw foraging in the shallows and reeds. Merlin, eBird and Google Lens all said it is a Whitehead, which is a New Zealand bird! However, asking a few experienced birders gave me the right information....it's a leucistic Song Sparrow.. It's been hanging around the area for years now, apparently, though its appearance changes a bit. In fact, birders are so familiar with it that they have named it "Lucy" (of course, short for "leucistic"!) Underlines the importance of asking experts for information, rather depending solely on apps!
