Beginning a visit to Yumrika after a gap of 7 years (when my beloved family lived 2 km away instead of nearly 14,000km!). A trip that takes the aircraft (and me) over the North Pole, and over sheets of snow and ice.
It's a matter of getting used to many things....fustofal,the total joy of hugging DnA, K1 and K2.
Dinner of ravioli and home-made tomato soup
Arrival at Seattle-Tacoma airport and seeing the art installation of the water Goddess,
by
Marela
a five-piece sculpture which is suspended above the baggage claim carousels.
This ancient aircraft is the
Alexander Eaglerock also on display at the international arrivals hall.
Then, slowly, the details of what will be my daily life for the immediate future.
....frinstance, if the light switch is "on" in India, it's "off" in the US. Then...to figure out how various gadgets work, starting (of course) from the kitchen and the bathroom (eight minutes to figure out the tap in the bathtub and I am still not sure I have it right!).
Daylight that lasts until 9pm.
The brain fog of jet lag which has resulted in the most glorious, deep, refreshing 12-hour sleep I have had in recent times. Various people tried to wake me up at different times. I carefully avoided murdering each of them and went right back to ZZZland.
Looking at the mind-boggling variety of THINGS and foodstuff.
Enjoying the beauty of the rhododendrons and other as-yet unknown plants in the garden.
Acrobatic squirrels
and Black-headed Juncos (DnA put out food for both the squirrels and the birds, but I haven't been awake to see any other birds) at the feeders.
All in all....just getting to terms with a very different kind of life for the next few weeks!
