KSR Bengaluru City Station, 070923

For possibly the first time in years, I spent time in Bangalore City Station (ok, ok, KSR Bengaluru!) without actually taking a train.

I went to meet my friends

who were returning to Chennai by the Vande Bharat. Here it is, gliding into the station (the train starts at Mysore)

They were travelling Executive class. It was very impressive (and probably also very expensive, as AMS got tickets on Tatkal!)

We also had lunch at Southern Bhavan, one of the restaurants at the station. Here is Balaji, blessing us at the entrance to the restaurant.

They had used this excellent new luggage locker facility, which works with the help of mobile phone OTPs..and which had a witty name as well!

I found this ancient steam engine (did it really run, once upon a time?) at the station entrance

I also wanted to check out the state of the art gallery, but ran out of time.

The station is a very interesting place indeed! It's a pity that I am usually rushing in or rushing out of
it.
