How many ways we have of describing death! Expired, passed away (or just, passed), drew the last breath, gave up the ghost, became immortal, crossed the rainbow bridge, went to reside in the stars...
And with all that wealth of description, we still know nothing... when we will die, what it will be like, what happens (or doesn't) afterward....
It's a constant presence, and yet we ignore it until brought face to face it every now and then. We look into our mortality, and then turn our faces away again, from what we cannot know.
