I have to play Devil's advocate here to this eating regular food is poisoning yourself movement.
I've been taught that milk is good for a growing child. I have grown up drinking (and enjoying) milk. Nothing has happened to many of my friends and relatives, many of them have lived to a ripe old age with a diet and lifestyle (lack of exercise) that would astonish the fad-diet group.
It seems to be the fashion of the day to totally denigrate everything that we eat or drink, and laud some exotic food or beverage.
Having reached the age of 67 with good health, eating all sorts of good and junk food (all in moderation, which I believe is the key to it all), I feel that "a little of what you fancy" is never a bad idea.
I find that like anything else, this whole concept of "wellness" (good health doesn't sound so fashionable!) and Eating Right has become a fad, and unless you are proved to be eating some unheard-of preparation (or can claim that it was eaten in Vedic times)...you are not part of the Cool Set!
Dahi Puri, one of the fairly heatlhy "junk" foods.
