Hey, I was on depo for approx 3 years and been off for almost 2. I havent gotten my period for about 4 1/2 years now, but Im not really worried about that anymore. I gained so much weight from it though and it doesnt seems to be leaving. Growing up, I never had a problem with my weight, so being over my normal size is frustrating. Has anyone

I was always chubby, not completely overweight but I could stand to lose like 15 lbs. I took the depo shot for nearly 4 years. When I started taking the depo shot I gained nearly double my weight and havent been able to get it off at all. Lost my sex drive and alot of hair.

Now 4 years later I finally got my period back to normal after 2 years of not having it at all and a year of having it straight. My hair is still thinner than it once was and the weight... still here. I have tired various diets, was put on xenical... nothing worked. I do not want to take any more diet pills because now I have high blood pressure due to the weight and some of the ingredients bother me. Its harder to exercise because the weight is just much. I am mobile I mean I am not like 400lbs or more but not that far off and it is just taking its toll on me. The doctors I once had blamed me and claimed I was just being lazy. Needless to say I havent been back to a doctor in almost 2 years, I am afraid of hearing that shit again and not getting help. The only thing restored to normal was my sex drive and that is the only positive I can say after this experience.

thanks for your response...i appreciate any feedback. I am so sorry to hear about the weight gain. Ive been trying to lose this weight for quite some time now and it just clings on. I am so glad to hear that your sex drive has returned. I am glad for you, as well as myself because I now have some hope. I was scared that things will never return back to normal and I dont expect them to be the same, but I really want to be my old self again or at least close to it. So, thank you and good luck with getting back to what you were before the depo.

I have been holding on to that hope that it will get back to normal. I walk my dog every day so I try to stay mobile hoping little by little it will show some sort of improvement. I was never a big eater before or really ate "bad" foods but I try to keep mind of those anyways whenever I eat.

I am trying to get my mind back into actually going to a doctor and not stopping until I find one that will actually help me. I just think that in some people the shot caused and imbalance and its hard to figure out how to deal with it when not that many had experienced it. I havent heard many stories about massive weight gain. I think as long as I have been keeping interest I have heard maybe 10. Majority have had a great experience.
