With A Corncob Pipe and A Button Nose...

Both because I want my life to be more interesting (ie, I will make it interesting once I am forced to do things worth writing) and because I enjoy sharing my life and want to share more of the ups, I plan (and that doesn't mean it will happen, but hey) to post weekly if at all possible.

So this would be the post for this week! Huzzah! Hugbees!

First off, aurgh, get these songs out of my head! *flails and laughs* Lately I have been waking up or making it in to work with songs in my head. These songs stick with me ALL BLOODY DAY. Today's song is Frosty the Snowman. I have had everything from Broadway's The Little Mermaid to Moulin Rouge, to tv show themes (Freakazoid! being high on the list) and random oldies. Basically anything, and while sometimes it's a result of my subconscious linking dreams to songs, it doesn't always make sense. Sometimes it's great and sometimes, like today, I want to stab out my subconscious ear drums where this keeps playing.

Speaking of dreams, a couple days back I had an interestingly odd one, surreal enough not to be like my usual "story" dreams. Still, it told some sort of tale or another. I dreamed that I went to a doll meetup at, of all places, a flea market. I apparently brought ssfseiyakou and moradoshinigami with me. Patti seemed much more interested in the dolls than Stephie. After the meet, we were running through the aisles of the flea market, in a chain (each holding the other's hand), looking for something. Every now and again we'd stop at a booth and inspect things. I have no clue what we were looking for, but we were all excited. It was definitely an "antique store/garage sale" flea market, not the ones these days where over half the stores sell new items and all shops have a set theme to what they sell. I remember it was open air, but there were permanent structures for the sellers to set up. It looked like a bunch of marketplace stalls. Anyway!

Yesterday I learned that I won a contest. If you are on my Facebook or Twitter you might have seen me spazzing. I entered a contest on Facebook to win a professionally made tutu. I didn't think I would win. I entered because it was quick and easy, the tutu was pretty, and I had an idea of what to write the instant I saw how one was supposed to enter. I felt my response was pretty jaded (they asked what Valentine's Day meant to the entrant, requiring that tutus be mentioned in the response), so I'm very surprised that I won. The tutu is Valentine's red and sparkly with several layers of tulle. The front is "tea length" while the back is longer (no length specified). There is some floral detailing, and they apparently used vintage fake flowers for that. I honestly have no clue on the size, or if tutus even have sizes (other than adult and child). I don't know how they are worn or secured, and I have NO clue what to wear with it.

If I posted pictures (they have some on their page, though I haven't gotten it yet), do you think you guys could give me some ideas of what to wear/make to wear with it? I don't mind if it's random clothing for that punkish, "I don't care what people think of me, I wear this everyday" look or if it's a design for an actual ballet-style costume, or an out and out costume of some sort. I plan to wear it to the mall at least once (it was part of my entry and now they want pictures, and this makes me happy), and possibly to Dragon*Con if I can get together an interesting/fun outfit. I certainly didn't NEED it, but I LOVE it and I'm happy that I won. I might not have a specific use for it, but who needs to have a specific USE for something pretty and shiny?

On an unrelated note, since I don't really transition from thought to thought well... XD We were waiting on two boxes from overseas recently. The first was a replacement part for Joel's ABJD, since she came to us broken. The second was an order we made at a doll website, Dollmore, when we found we had some spare cash and wanted to buy some things (after all, Joel's doll needs hair and such). Surprisingly, both were scheduled to deliver yesterday. They would have delivered, too, if it wasn't for the fact that the USPS delivery person neither knocked on the door nor rang the doorbell. Joel was downstairs ALL day; he would have heard them. As it was, I came home to find a little orange card saying they would redeliver jammed in the door. Grrrrr! We signed the card, leaving authorization to leave the box on the porch, and taped it to the door knob. Let's see them ignore THAT. I can't go to the post office. The local post office doesn't open early enough for me to make it to work on time, and isn't open LATE enough for me to pick things up after work. I don't even know if they HAVE weekend hours. I highly doubt it.

But yes, we are excited about he packages. Joel's girl will have a not-broken knee finally, and hair. Her eyes are out of stock, but they claim they will ship us eyes when they restock. Until then, she has some nice lavender eyes from Angel of Dream that will suffice. I bought a lot of stuff, but really spent the same (or maybe a smidge more) than Joel. Those eyes and wigs cost a ton! I got a set of much cheaper eyes (with butterfly pupils) for Rhianna, and I hope they fit. I also got her a pair of jeans, though I'm not sure how well they will fit either. They were too appropriate not to pass up, and I can't find fabric like that. We'll see what happens. Other than that I just picked up some inexpensive stockings for her, a tiny deck of cards, and a doll sized violin. Yes, I bought Rhianna a violin. It was on sale and a whim kind of thing, but I think I'm going to like it.

Anyway! Enough of my doll rambling, right? On to more important things! I just... can't quite figure out what those important things are at the moment. I took some pictures of Rhianna in the recent snowfall. It was nice to actually get an inch or two of snow here in Georgia. It's not something we see often. This morning, though the snow has mostly melted away even in our area, my car had the faintest of dustings of snowflakes on it. I guess it was just barely flurrying overnight. I love the snow, but I think it's one of those "love to visit, wouldn't want to live there" kind of things. After last month's astounding $500 electric bill, I think I just prefer an overall warmer climate. The cold is for when you're on vacation, in a hotel, and don't have to pay a second thought to how much it costs to keep your living space at 80 degrees. ;op~

As I sit here trying to think of what I could write about, my nose is tickling from my perfume. That reminded me, of course, that I never really said anything after I got that huge batch of BPAL scents! I really still don't know what I think about them. I haven't tried them all yet, I don't think. I usually remember as I'm about to run downstairs and out the door, so I just grab an imp, apply, and run. Apparently every BPAL scent ever made is a morpher on me, though, because they NEVER retain the same scent for long. The two I've been applying most often, of late, have been Dragon Tears and... bah whichever one is named after the Norse goddess of love, Freyja, or something. I'm still undecided on whether I like these, but they stick with me the longest, and have so far had the most pleasing scent. I apparently can't pick out a single scent, so my nose either isn't very refined or I just have never had a scent named for me before now. None of them have smelled like I expected them to from their descriptions thusfar.

Dragon Tears was one I wasn't sure about, because the ocean scent isn't something that draws me. I was hoping for a slight hint of the beach with an overall dragon's blood smell. Instead I get the ocean, pure and simple, out of it. O.O But, like, it's not a natural Florida beach ocean smell. It's something more pleasant and light. *shrugs* It also happens to be what I'm wearing today, and something about its lightness tickles my nose, so there you go.

Aha, looked it up. The other one I've been trying recently is Brisingamen, and it is based off of Freyja. The scent sums up to "five ambers, soft myrtle and apple blossom, myrtle, and carnation" with some wonderful flavor text before it. See, with that one? Within the first 30 minutes it's soap. I mean SOAP. You know those little fragrant soaps your grandma/great grandma puts in her bathroom, shaped like sea shells and things, smell? Yea, that's the ticket. That lasts for a few hours and I hate it. But about four hours later, boom, the amber and warmth surrounds me until it fades entirely at some point. I want that BOOM without the intense floral lead up. And I don't know how to get it or what scent to look at.

Right now I think I'm going to try to keep a running log on my LJ of the scents as I try them, because I keep forgetting which one I've worn before or what I think of it. So if you guys are BPAL lovers, I'd adore your input and feedback, and even your suggestions. Right now my stash is small, and I'll probably just cycle through them, trading imp for imp until I find ones I like, and then trying to track down bottles of the ones I like. Here's My ScentBase Profile, which links to all the imps (and my one lonely bottle) in my collection. Maybe someone with more scent know how will be able to give me some advice on how to test these and actually figure out what it is I like about any given scent.

Okay, I'm totally out of things to talk about. I know I say this all the time, but I really mean it: if you want to know anything about my life, let me know. I'm more than willing to write, I just don't know what to write about. I often don't realize what's worth writing about! So feedback is totally appreciated. XD That's me, over and out.

HUGBEES!
