Kendrah's Totally Awesome Writing Prompt Shop! Issues 1-6

Yes, 1-6. I fail. I fail hardcore. I blame a lot of things, which aren't worth noting here at all. Feel free to use all the following prompts, or none of them, at your leisure. Feel free to write one for each prompt, or incorporate all of them into one big writing exercise! It's all fair game. I promise that, from here on out, I will keep up with this. XD

And as I had the first prompt all written up before, I'm going to post it here in it's entirety, then give shiney new prompts for 2-6 after it.

Today, for the first prompt of the month, we are going to work on our POV. How, you may ask?

Write from the point of view of an inanimate object. The only prompt I shall give you is "miscommunication." Incorporate some sort of miscommunication into your story/drabble/fic/what-have-you, but keep your writing from the point of view of an inanimate object: preferably, but not required, one that is not capable of speaking/communicating with humans. ::smirks::

NaNo writers? You've got a choice today. Either you need to include an inanimate object as the focal point of your writing today, you need to include some sort of miscommunication between characters, or you could include both by making the miscommunication be about/over said inanimate object. Have fun!

Prompt 2:

Timed Writing! We'll say 15 minutes. This time, we want you to write about an obsession. This prompt should be broad enough to be used by short-story/fic/drabble writers and Nano writers alike!

Prompt 3:

Timed Writing! 30 minutes this time, just to kick things up a notch. This time, you're working on characterization. Maybe you really want to make sure you know everything about your villian, before you introduce her. Perhaps you just want to make sure you don't start writing conflicting information on your hero. Sit down, and write non-stop about the character (or multiple characters, if you think you have everything down on one and still have time). Instead of a story, or some plot, just write the character's history. Describe the personality. Write down what he or she looks like. Go all out.

For non-Nano writers, here's your chance to practice characterization. Create a character, for any purpose! Just be as detailed as possible about your fictional person.

Prompt 4:

Write about a child (any age below 13, let's say) of any gender. Your prompt will be "behind closed doors."

Prompt 5:

"The door swung open with an ominous creak. Above her head, the ceiling writhed like a living thing, ever moving..."

Prompt 6:

I guess the prompts are getting a bit less leading, but I figure this might actually be more helpful. If anyone wants big, long, descriptive/directing prompts, just let me know.

The final prompt for today will be "dinner with an adversary". Take that however you want, in whatever context you want. And above all... have fun!
