Last night, I was roasting. Joel, being energy efficient and also a salamandar, normally has the house set to 84 degrees. That's right, 84 degrees. If it gets hotter than 84 degrees, the air conditioner will turn on to make it 84 degrees. If it gets cooler than 84 degrees, well, I guess nothing happens, but in Georgia, in summer, that's not all that common, now is it?
I had him drop the temperature to 82, and he kindly went as far as 80. I'm comfortable at 80, actually, so it's not like he's roasting me out. He keeps the house at 84 when he's alone. Still. 84? Insane.
I think what I need to do is install some
ceiling fans in the bedrooms. We have one in the livingroom, but I'm afraid to turn it on for fear of blowing around all of our disorganized papers and things. The bedroom would be useful, though, so that it can be warmer for Joel downstairs, and I can stay upstairs and be a smidgen cooler.
I didn't know how many different types of fans were out there, though! It's insane. I mean, should I consider a tried and true Hunter fan, or maybe a Monte Carlo? I really like the traditional
Minka Aire fans, but I think they might be too much for our style of decor. Then again, I could always go with a fun and funky
Fanimation, because they definitely look awesome.
I like this particular site, because you have the ability to choose mix and match, as far as I can tell. X color blade, Y color fan. I think I could definitely do something with that. Right now there are other things I have to deal with first, though. (Like cleaning off the kitchen table so we can eat on it again? We had a friend visit on Sunday, and careful as he probably was, there is now spaghetti sauce marring one of Joel's really rare Ayaname posters. ;-; I hope we can find a replacement.) Still, it's definitely good to think about it now. Plan ahead, stuff like that.
On a random note, I'm sitting at work with a space heater on. Apparently we're the only ones that like to live somewhere between 80 and 84.
