Thunderbolts and Lightening, Very Very Frightening...

It's storming outside, apparently. I noticed when I passed one of the attorneys' offices that it wasn't bright and sunny out, like it usually is, but I hadn't assumed that it was going to be quite so dreary. I haven't looked outside since, but every few minutes are now punctuated by booming, crackling thunder of an impressive type. You must of course remember that I am in the middle of the floor, basically, or as close to it as a cubicle around here can get, and the sound has to reach me through the attorneys' offices, past their phone conversations, and over the sound of my own space heater that is keeping my feet toasty and warm. XD SO yes, the thunder is impressing me.

We'll see if it impresses me quite so much once I leave the office in about 20 minutes. I don't much like the idea of having to drive through torrential rain in rush hour traffic to go to the grocery store and then skip my way home. ;-;

So, some of you are probably wondering what happened in my life last weekend, since my more recent post only dealt with the weekend before that. Well, not much happened at all, truth be told. We found out that Joel, once again, has been scheduled for zero hours of work this week. We picked up Odango, and the three of us drove around, went shopping (mostly window), ate... the usual stuff. We did look around a bit at furniture stores, as Gran has decided that with the mortgage she needs to take out so she can get some cash for medical issues, etc, she would buy us a smidgen of furniture for the house, so we aren't living with nothing but our matress, box spring, kitchen table and chairs. She said she'd pick up a sofa, end table, dresser, bed side table, and a couple of bookcases, all within a certain price range that she has dictated. They're already bringing us a bed frame (that I had picked out, and told her to use the money I'd asked her to get me an ipod with to buy the bed frame instead) that we've picked out, and when they're here we're going to buy a washer and drier as well.

All in all, that will have our house pretty close to fully furnished... After that, we'd need another computer desk (two, if we decide to replace the one I have now), a bed and bed frame for the guest room (we'll more than likely get a King bed and frame for us and move our Queen set into the guest room), some sort of entertainment center (either with attached or seperate storage for our massive number of dvds), and random bits here and there, like any other furniture we might want for the guest room (that isn't nearly as important as having a bed in there for guests), bar stools for the breakfast bar, and stuff like a seat for the built in vanity in the guest bathroom counters... Stuff that will make the house more "finished", but isn't a necessity, you know?

Gran's also getting a few blinds for the house. I don't know how many, because she wants to get us the really good quality ones, but as long as we get one or two I'm ecstatic. Even just the blinds would make me terribly happy (before the loan, it was all she was planning to get us, because it was all she could afford). That she's wanting to help out so much, knowing that it will easily take us a couple of years to save up for all the things that one doesn't realize one "needs" when one buys a home... it's really sweet.

But anyway, back to the weekend... although there really isn't much more to say. Sunday we went to the comic book shop. Apparently there was supposed to be a tournament, but it didn't happen because we didn't have enough people, and when we finally got some random stranger who was willing to learn the game, Joel and I had to head out because we'd already been there a few hours and couldn't really stick around for the length of a tournament and still get our chores done. So we went grocery shopping, and then went home, and that was basically it for our weekend.

The rest of the week, this coming weekend, and the week following, will probably all look about the same. I'll be in a frantic rush to get cleaning, because my parents are visiting weekend after this one. I'll be running around trying to pick out furniture we like, since they'll want to buy the furniture while they're here. Joel will likely be making plans to be "away" as much as possible, as he wants nothing to do with them (save for Hueli, whom he wants to chat with, and we're trying to make arrangements so he can see her without seeing Gran or Dad). So, anyone local want a Joel hanging around next Saturday and Sunday if they're dips and refuse to give him hours that weekend?
