I'm waiting for my parents to wake up so we can load up the car and go to WM. I'm simultaneously excited about getting back and wondering where the summer went, despite the fact that it was 4 months long and I did virtually nothing productive. There were reasons I didn't get a job; there was a 2 week trip to England at the end of July and I had to drive my mom to all her doctor/chemo appointments which would, for the first month, be on a different day (sometimes multiple days), at a different time, each week. Holding a full time job would have been difficult. Also, I really just wanted to not have to do anything for a while.
I got a lot of reading done this summer, even though I didn't do as much as I would have liked while in England (still haven't finished The Canterbury Tales), and I also finally completed some games I've been meaning to finish for a while (screw you, Angra Mainyu). While there was never a bona-fide Civparty, there WAS a Settlers of Catan-athon in which Mike, Drayas, and I played something like 8 games (plus one game of The Hobbit) in 12 hours. There was UZ, King's Dominion, Firefly, and due to a slight error in Mike's memory, one unfortunate incident involving the Barbie Game. I'd say it's been a good summer. Now I just have to get my brain to start working in ways it hasn't worked in 1/3 of a year.
Speaking of which, I'm off to a great start. I've been wide awake since 1:45pm Friday afternoon. There was a stretch of about 3 hours where I was lying in bed, in the dark, with my eyes closed, but I'm pretty sure I never actually fell asleep. So, the plan is to crash around 9-10pm and sleep till noon on Sunday. Hopefully that will set me up for being able to wake up at 9am by Wednesday.
For those of you that are interested, I may upload some pictures of Great Britain to Facebook sometime soon (depends on how many people have arrived by tonight). Maybe. (But probably not.)
