Happy New Year?

Jan 01, 2005 11:58

I hope everyone else is having a good first day of 2005. I have been home for about 2 weeks now and I am counting the days I can leave for Sydney, my other home, once again. The home where quiet and solitude or lonliness reigns. I am now employed again after approximately a month of the hair-tearing process of finding a job. Staying here is looking less and less attractive each day. I am really only waiting for my dental treatment to be completed.

I feel sorry for my mother, who has the unhappy responsibility of holding the family together. Taking care of 2 mentally subnormal persons (my older brother and a paternal aunt), 2 juveniles (my younger sister and brother) and 1 nutcase (my father) can't be an easy task. Today is yet another dreaded, crazed holiday. My brother tried to break a lock with a hammer and chisel, my mother went after him and I had to help calm him down. Meanwhile, my father just screams and yells the most horrible things. Anyone who wishes me a good holiday when I visit home definitely has no idea what my family is like. I am only too glad to finally be of an age where getting out of the madhouse is only a jet away.
