Tumblr. Masterpost The restaurant that Zack had chosen was slightly fancy, so he had told Rian to wear a suit with a tie. When they had walked in the door the receptionist had ushered them to their table after confirming Zack's reservation.
The waiter came to their table quickly, placing a basket of bread down and asked for what they wanted to drink. When he walked away, Rian spoke.
"This place is pretty fancy for a first date."
Zack smiled. "I feel like we deserved a nicer place than McDonald's for our first date, considering all that has happened."
"I don't know what you're talking about.. McDonald's is a classy place."
Both teens laughed at the sarcastic comment before Zack stared at Rian intently. The other teen didn't notice until a few minutes later when he looked back up from his menu.
"Is something wrong?"
Zack shook his head. He fingered the utensils on the table.
"I'm just thinking how lucky I am to have gotten another chance."
Rain reached over and placed his hand on Zack's. "You couldn't shake me off if you tried."
Zack was going to respond back but was interrupted by the waiter giving them their drinks and taking their orders. The waiter walked away when they had finished ordering and Zack reached for his glass of water. His hands were unsteady and he almost knocked the glass over. Rian snickered under his breath but stopped when he saw the other man looked genuinely embarrassed.
Teasing slightly, Rian stated, "I thought you would be smoother than this on a date."
"I can't help it! You make me nervous."
They smiled at each other and the dinner went along smoothly, conversation never halting.

"If you don't hurry up Zack, we are going to leave you!" Alex leaned on the banister that led up the stairs of the house.
"Just a second! You guys wouldn't leave me, though."
"You wanna bet?"
"Rian wouldn't let you!"
"We would find him some other hot boy on this road trip and he would get over it."
Zack comes stomping down the stairs, his bag in tow and glares teasingly at Alex. "He wouldn't. Now let's go before my parents change their mind on letting me go! By the way, you think I'm hot?"
Alex flips him off, he smiles, and they both get in the car; Alex gets in the passenger seat next to Jack while Zack squeezes next to Rian in the back, tossing his bag in the car.
Looking at the teen next to him, Zack speaks breathlessly and softly. "Hey."
Rian smiles back. "Hey."
Reaching over to link his fingers with his boyfriend, Zack smiles. Their relationship was rocky in the beginning but it's been a year and he can't imagine being without him. He knows Rian would agree.
Alex and Jack are battling over what Blink 182 song should be playing and Zack knows that this is going to be a great summer.
