Ben closed his eyes, letting his body take over and do what he had to even as his mind started to wander.

For the umpteenth time he berated himself for allowing Lucas to get under his skin as bad as he had. Worse that he had given Lucas his word. It had been in a moment of weakness, after a night of ecstasy when Lucas made him promise he wouldn’t make any tributes to the Blue Lady.

It kills him whenever he thinks about it, especially now that he desperately needs her help. His best friend, lover, and unit brother Lucas needed tryptophan to lessen the violence of the seizures. It was a given Ben would do whatever it took to get his hands on the supplement.

Without the tributes, he had been resorted to apply alternate resources.

Why he was here right now - in an alley on his knees, letting some guy abuse his mouth: to make enough money to buy more tryptophan.

In the last six months, Lucas’ seizures were worse making them vulnerable and unable to travel, forcing them to lay low. If they’d been back at Manticore, Ben knew, they beyond the point where Manticore would have given Lucas to the Nomlies.

Although they were as far away from Manticore and the Nomlies as they could get - still it didn’t help not when he had to watch Lucas suffer.

At Manticore like the rest of them Lucas had been taking regular doses of tryptophan. Fortunately Manticore didn't know it at the time, but Lucas was sick even back then. Not that he was as bad as Jack and they were able to easily hide the small seizures. However after Manticore took Jack away, they knew it’d only be a matter of time before Manticore discovered the truth and like Jack threw Lucas in with the Nomlies.

Thankfully the Blue Lady gave them a reprieve by giving them an opportunity to escape.

During the escape he had slipped and fallen into the river. Soldiers were almost on top of him before fate intervened they were off chasing someone else in his unit. Climbing out of the water he hid until they passed him. Coming out of hiding he ran and didn’t look back.

The next morning, Lucas found him - huddled against a log passed out, cold and shivering. With Lucas’ help they were able to escape the woods and leave Manticore behind.

Afterwards, the first few years Lucas’ seizures were manageable. Their main problem was getting their hands on enough tryptophan for both of them without drawing attention. Tryptophan wasn’t something they could buy over the counter, and definitely not at doses they’d needed. However it was imperative for an X5.

Even though it was a supplement, it was still categorized medicinal and kept under lock. Security in general was too tight to continually rob any of the hospital or pharmacist without raising suspicion from the sector police or even Manticore. If it had been for himself, it might have been doable by keeping on the move traveling around the country. However Lucas couldn’t travel the distance he could without getting sick, and Ben couldn’t just leave or stand by and watch Lucas suffer.

It was Lucas who’d hold him through the night whenever he had a nightmare, offer his hand or a hug whenever he couldn’t stop the bad memories or even the good ones when he missed their brothers and sisters. Lucas was there with him and together they faced the world.

Only now Lucas was getting worse even with the extra doses of tryptophan Ben had started to give him.

Fingers gripped tight in his hair, above him, the john jerkily pushed forward, his cock shoved down Ben's throat. Preferring to pretend it was Lucas; Ben opened his throat and swallowed the come down.

The image vanished and Ben pulled back letting the softened cock slip from his mouth. The man gently swept up a droplet of come from his chin and fed it to him. Ben looked up at the john and opened his mouth, his tongue wrapping around the thumb. The man was young, or rather younger than most of Ben’s clients. Probably in his thirties, dark hair, almost boyish good looks. He appeared pleased with Ben’s eagerness as he pulled his thumb away with a pop and patted his cheek. “Next time, we’ll go inside. Wanna see and feel if that ass is as pretty as your mouth.”

Ben ran his tongue over his bottom lip seductively. “I’ll cost more.”

“ ‘Spect so.” He quickly tucked himself in and turned away; calling over his shoulder, as he made his way back inside. “See you here next week.”

Standing ready to leave, Ben shoved his hands deep into his pockets. In his right pocket fingers touched the money folded there. He knew exactly how much he had - enough to buy tryptophan for the rest of the week and for once stay home with Lucas.

Ben’s eyes traveled up to the cross on the steeple of the church and couldn’t shake the ache that he should be leaving tribute...

Ben shook his head at Lucas’ whispered voice reminding him of his promise. Defeated Ben hunched his shoulders and walked home to Lucas. Tomorrow he’ll make contact and buy more tryptophan - tonight he just wants Lucas to hold him and chase away the nightmares.
