Hello guys! Am back in Reading and hopefully with have news of note soon as Manchester is BORING! Well it is for me anyway ;) Anyhoo main reason for post is to invite anyone who is close enough or fancies it to my New Year's Eve partay! Saw Phantom of the Opera at cinema today and reasonably impressed, they changed the script quite a lot for a bizarre reason but it somehow managed to work. The naff changes were completley swamped by an amzing performance by a menacing yet enticing Phantom and a very naive Christine. Much sexual tension and am sure the Phantom wasn't as groppy in the stage production but hey it worked. Miranda Richardson was amazing as Mdme Cherie(as she always is) and Jen Ellison actually managed a convincing Meg but then again Meg is a bit of an umdemanding role. Wasn't sure about Minnie Driver as Carlotta though. Amazing sets so overall I'd give it an 8 1/2 out of 10 mainly 'cos am a purist and was miffed they changed too much of the script.
