Malta. Chapter 1

Jul 05, 2010 12:39

I flew to Malta on Sunday, 4 July 2010 at 7:30 o'clock. I met school representative in airport and she showed me our driver Lois. While I was waitnig other passengers of our transfer bus, I saw some people, who cried “Taxi! Taxi!” I thought, this italian-arabic nation is the same with Russians. And my mood had been improved. :)

Greate Maltas shock is the left-side road movements! It's terrible for my brain. Waiting bus on and from another side of road, getting on bus from another side, stoping bus with another hand, seeing on the road right first before acrossing it - that all and many others is very inhabitance.

I live in greate family! Maryrose cooks very well. We (me and my neighbour) was eating rabbit with mashed potatoes and fruit salad with yoghurt and ice cream at dinner. I was satisfied very much! She is very helpful and sociable. We talks about Malta, about her students and about many others.

My neighbour called Irina. She is from Switzerland. She had been lived in Novosibirsk before emigration. She knows Russian and German languages and she is studying English for work. She is a bookkeeper. Her husband is Pole and he knows many languages, Russian too. He will arrive to us on Thursday. Although we know russian, we speak only English, sometimes use Russian language for difficult words, phrases, defenitions and russian idioms. She made first excursion for me through the Malta. We went across the city to the beach, swam in the sea and had a sunbath. Beaches in Malta are terrible, horrible, etc! There ares a huge sharp rocks with big depressions and cracks. People can enter to water only in special places such as in swimming pool. However sea water is greate: light, blue, clear! We spend a perfect time on the beach.

In the evening I went to a walk along the emabankment with hundreds of yachts and boats. After a few minutes I saw huge castle on the other side of bay and decided to went into this castle. Yestrday was fiesta, so I saw a lot of fireworks in the sky in time of walking. There is a big forest with strange trees near the castle. I went among the silent road with high stone walls in both side of me. It took me 20 minutes to go to the park. There are a lot of monuments in the park. Big statue “Independenze” situated at the start of this park. After a few minutes I came to bus end stop. 50 meters further was capital of Malta Valetta. 30 minutes from Msida to Valetta on foot, 30 minutes between the cities… It isn't our big Russia, it's ex-colony of United Kingdom, It's Malta!
