I have just finished watching Tsuritama the other day, and I want to record my impressions while they are fresh.
Yuki, a boy with huge social anxiety issues and, apparently, facial muscle control issues, moves to a new town. He suspects that he will not make any friends and will have a lonely and miserable existence.
However, Haru, a guy who claims to be an alien, announces that he is Yuki’s friend and forces Yuki to participate in his hobby - fishing.
Neither of them know a thing about fishing, though, so Haru drags the local fishing champion, the cool Fishing Prince Natsuki into their shenanigans and makes Natsuki teach them how to fish.
And for some reason they are constantly observed by a turban-wearing dude Akira, who has a pet duck named Tapioca.
It all seems like a weird slice of life, but Haru is a real alien and the whole fishing thing has a very important reason behind it, so the series has lots of fantasy elements.
At first I did not think that a series about fishing might be interesting, I just wanted to take a look at the art style, because from what I had seen, it might be visually appealing. Here is the OP, so you can see that for yourself:

But it turned out to be not just interesting to look at, it was actually quite an exciting story, and it had a good message, too. Well, it might not be a particularly original message - everyone knows that friends are important and all that, but it was still a touching anime and it was good to see that people who initially had very little in common grew closer to each other and became friends.
So I would recommend this series to everyone who likes nice landscapes and interesting animation style, and who likes a slow-paced everyday life sort of story suddenly change into action-packed adventure with the fate of the world at stake.
