"Mommy! Mommy! Mommymommymommymommymommy!" Ichigo shouted, tiny frame bobbling as he careened down the hall. Masaki laughed softly, scooping the orange haired boy up in her arms, spinning him around, and placing a kiss on his forhead.

"Now, what's gotten you so excited?" she smiled down at him, ruffling his hair as Isshin came up the stairs, Yuzu and Karin in tow.

"It's snowing, honey!" Isshin laughed, the tiny white flakes scattered throughout his hair making it seem as if he had gone prematurely white. Yuzu giggled, gloved hands fisting on her father's big jacket, grinning up at her mother.

Masaki set Ichigo down and smiled at the three, "Why don't you four go on ahead out and play? I'll head down to the store for some hot chocolate, okay?"

Ichigo blinked up at her, tugging on her skirt, "I wanna go, too!"

Masaki chuckled, ruffling his hair, "Let me go get dressed then, hmm?"

"An' three pickles, some mustard, aaaannnnd..." Orihime stopped swinging her arms, face screwed up in concentration.

Sora patted her light auburn hair, darkened from the snow's wetness, "Some milk and maybe if someone's good..."

"A cookie!" Orihime piped up, grinning toothily at her big brother, "With chocolate chips and raisins and peanut butter and... and... and..."

Sora laughed, "We'll see." His boots crunched in the fresh snow as he pulled open the entrance for his little sister, waiting as another pair slipped through the door as well.

"What do you say to the nice young man, Ichigo?" Masaki chided as she helped Ichigo through the door.

"Thank you!" Ichigo waved to Sora and trailed after his mother, snow fluttering off his jacket as he went.

Sora eyed the pair and took Orihime's hand, gently squeezing it as they entered the store. Orihime blinked and squeezed it back, "Turnips first, right?"

Uryuu struggled a bit, tugging the door open by himself, list clutched firmly in his small hand, along with a crumpled stack of yen notes that smelled faintly of medicine. He was proud. Souken had gone into the hospital again for tests and had entrusted him to get a few things, something Uryuu was more than proud to do.

Uryuu padded down the aisles, tiny quincy cape flapping behind him as he went, easily obtaining the items on his list before coming to the last one. He blinked, staring at his grandfather's scrawl before smiling a little.

He padded down the aisle, standing on his toes as he tried to reach the box.

"Ah! Ninja-san! Please don't steal my chocolate" Orihime shouted. She had been sent by her brother while he was finding 'something secret' to go get the hot chocolate mix.

Uryuu stumbled down from the shelves, eyes widening as he hit the ground.

"Are you okay, Ninja-san?" Orihime asked, hurrying to Uryuu's side.

Uryuu frowned, "I'm not a ninja. I'm a quincy!" he protested.

Orihime blinked, "A quincy?"

Uryuu nodded, "They're the most awesome people ever." He readjusted his glasses, "Even more awesome than the prime minister."

Orihime's eyes widened. More awesome than the prime minister? That was almost as cool as being a pirate. "I wanna be a quincy, too!"

"Huh? No, girls can't be quincies!" Uryuu protested.

Orihime pouted, "Why not?"

"Because... Because..." Uryuu paused. He wasn't quite sure why girls couldn't be quincies. He just didn't know if there were such a thing. "Maybe there can be."

Ichigo clutched his mother's hand tightly, swinging his arm back and forth, "Why can't we go get hot chocolate now?" he whined.

Masaki laughed softly, "Why don't you go ahead and get it for me, hmm?"

Ichigo pouted a little. He had wanted to get it with his mother, but... "Okay!" he nodded, hurrying off in his bulky winter jacket. He counted the aisles as he went, all too used to shopping with his mother.

Vegetables, canned goods, breads... Ah! There was the aisle. He turned down it to find a little girl tottering to help a strangly dressed boy(was that a dress? it looked a little like one...) get to one of the top shelves where... the hot chocolate was.

"I can help!" Ichigo offered, hurrying to the two before they toppled to the ground, the shelf's contents clattering around them.

"Ah! Orihime!" came a voice from the end of the aisle. Orihime perked up, nursing a bruise on her cheek from the box-avanlanche.

"Oniichan! I got hot chocolate!" she exclaimed proudly.

Uryuu cast around for his glasses, slidding them back on and blinking up as Sora gathered Orihime up from the pile.

Ichigo eyed the pile and sniffed. All the boxes were bent up. His mommy wouldn't be happy.

--

Orihime swung her legs off the porch of the apartment, watching the snow as it swirled down. Sora settled beside her, pulling her back from the ledge a bit and handing her a cup of hot chocolate.

"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked, frowning down at her.

Orihime grinned up at him, "Let's go grocery shopping again next week, Oniichan!"

--

Uryuu climbed up onto the hospital bed before reaching down to get the two cups. He offered one up to his grandfather tentatively.

"Did you have fun shopping, Uryuu?" he asked fondly, taking a sip. His grey whiskers brushed against the surface of the hot chocolate.

Uryuu pondered a bit, "Can girls be quincies?"

--

Ichigo settled in his chair, leaning back against Masaki, sipping on his hot chocolate happily. He wondered who those two weird kids were anyways.
