TODAY IS THURSDAY! *geeks out*
And hey, just for the heck of it. My thought on shows I care about watching this season. No spoilers :)
ER
Thirteen seasons. That's got to mean something. Here's the show that captured everyone's heart in the 90's, back when George Clooney and Juliana Marguiles were on. And though it did seem to be going down a hill for a while, it's back! This show's got edge and characters you can't help but love. I really like how it's going. I think it's been able to create stability and yet still has that element of suspense. Anyways, on to the point, the Abby and Luka relationship is simply to die for. Mature love! You don't see that very often anymore. The addition of new characters, though always annoying at the beginning of every season, is looking up. As long as their airtime doesn't exceed that of veterans, it's all good with me. And despite Katey's presence, I have hope for Ray and Neela.
Gilmore Girls
Honestly, I wasn't sure I was going to be watching this season. What with all the changes and the over-the-top finale last season, it seemed pointless. But damn, what a surprise! For some unexplainable reason, both Lorelai and Rory have that thing about them... wait, could it be!? It's the old Gilmore Girls all over again! And hey, I'm not complaining. In fact, I'm loving it! That's what got me to love the show in the first place, after all. Their dynamic together is just amazing. That's the mother/daughter relationship I was waiting to see. Kill me dead if you want, but I'm gushing my brains out at the sight of Lorelai and Chris together. Deny it not, they're perfect for each other. And Rory being all cute all the damn time? Now where's Jess when we need him ;)
Heroes
Well what can I say? This show's got no history but it sure as hell has a future. My thoughts about this show are pretty simple: it's good. No, it's really good. BUT, and that's a big but, it could be better. See, here's the thing, it's got so much potential. The storylines in themselves are incredibly clever and interesting, but they also seem to be nothing but multiple ideas thrown in together. I'm a little afraid it turns out to be another Lost, because I can assure you I'd stop watching if it did. The dialog can sometimes be a little tacky, though I guess that mostly depends on who wrote the episode. Who knows, maybe that's part of the superhero phenomena, but then it takes away that feeling of reality. Of course, this show isn't "real" per se, but the characterization can be.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Here we have a show that totally opposes Heroes. Studio 60 is witty. It's a total brain tease too. The dialog is fast-paced and yet surprisingly genius. But anyone who knows Aaron Sorkin's work has probably noticed that already. Essentially, this show doesn't make me jump out of my seat or run to the computer to "discuss" it. What it does do, however, is challenge my mind. By that, I simply mean that I sharpen my concentration when watching it because it requires my undivided attention. Miss a second and miss a great line! It's not as visual as Heroes is. And hey, that cast?! I don't know about you, but seeing Matt Perry on my screen every week fills my heart with joy. I just wish more people appreciated this show like I did :(
The Office
Are you really asking? Because if you've been reading my posts for the last month and a half, you probably noticed that THe Office is now my favorite show. In fact, because of this show, I see comedies in a whole different light. It's just so light-hearted and full of unexpected jokes. Micheal will never cease to shock me with his insensitive jokes and remarks. Dwight is perhaps the most outrageously funny character on television. Jim is the boyfriend of my dreams. I could go on about how each one of the characters are awesome. The "real" aspect of the show is not only incredibly original and fresh, it is also engaging. It's like you're a part of that team. Need I mention the crazy storylines we encouter every week. Genius! The interaction between the characters... and who didn't die when they saw that last scene with Jim and Pam on the phone. This show wins by a longshot.
Veronica Mars
Veronica Mars is candy TV. So far so good, I guess. I get a real kick out of watching V kick ass every week. There's just that Sydney Bristow sense of "I can kick your ass!" that I love so much, minus the kicking of course. Mind you, that girl's got the smarts of many. Unreal perhaps, but nevertheless candy entertainment. The Logan and Veronica relationship, though sadly neglected, honestly makes my heart flutter. Because yeah, even if they only get 3 seconds of screen time together, they are un-be-lie-va-bly cute! One thing I do not appreciate, however, is the little we see of Wallace and Lamb and Dick... Heck, even Piz, who seems to have disappeared. Otherwise, this show is totally worth watching. Even if I have to wait until 1am every Tuesday night to do so.
