[6/19] Main House, Room 1
Saki had been in a sort of shock over the news that Thelma was dead. She wasn't sure how to react. It had only been a couple of days since she had seen Thelma alive and laughing...how could this have happened?
Saki was never good at talking to others about herself and her own feelings. She had only known Thelma a short time and she was feeling crushed. Saki could only imagine what Cassie was going through...Thelma's death had left Saki feeling crushed but if Tohru or Arisa had been the ones to die Saki was sure she would be destroyed...completely shattered. Saki promised herself that she would find Cassie and at least see how she was holding up.
Finally she felt she had the strength to call home and talk to her brother. She really needed to hear his voice.
//"Mochi, mochi,"// Megumi's familiar voice answered.
//"Megumi..."//
//"Saki...what's wrong? You sound upset."//
//"...I am...Thelma's dead."//
//"Thelma?...The girl I met when I visited you?"//
//"...Yes."//
//"Wha-what...happened? She didn't seem sick when I met her..."//
The tears were threatening to fall as Saki replied. //"She was found dead in the lake on Sunday."//
//"Does that mean she drowned or..."// Megumi trailed off not wanting to finish the sentence that hung between them.
//"...I don't know,"// she replied her voice just above a whisper. //...but my gut tells me this wasn't an accident."//
//"...I'm sorry. You're not going to do anything rash are you? I won't forgive you if you get hurt...or worse."//
//"I won't do anything rash but I can't promise I won't get hurt...I can only promise that I will not go into harm's way on purpose."//
//"Do you want me to tell Okaa-san and Otou-san?"//
//"No, they'll only worry about me more than they already do. Don't tell Tohru-kun or Arisa either."//
//"Then I won't tell them. Give my condolences to her friend. I didn't get to meet her but it seemed to me that Thelma really thought highly of her so they must have been close."//
//"I will. She did. And they were. I'll talk to you later."//
//"...Okay. Call me if you need to talk...no matter the distance I'm here for you."//
//"I know...I love you."//
//"I love you too, Saki. Be safe."//
Saki hung up her cellphone and curled herself up into a ball on her bed. She had finally made a couple of friends and now she had lost one in a cruel twist of fate...what was next?
