I've had a rather stressful day today, attending a library conference in Birmingham and coming home by way of London, thanks to a complete idiot at the information booth at Birmingham New Street who assured me that yes, this train did stop at Northampton on the way to London. Note: it did not. So I ended up chugging past Northampton and having to go on to London and then back again. Argh. Stress.
On the plus side, it did give me time to pop to Selfridges and visit their import food section to pick up some canned pumpkin, so it's not a total waste. Not sure it's worth the extra £25 I had to spend on a return ticket to London, but clouds, silver linings, bright side, right?
