Can someone explain this to me?

So Sky have fired Andy Gray after further evidence of sexist behaviour has come to light, which...good. Good. It's about time people took sexism as seriously as they take racism or homophobia, because it's every bit as prevalent and probably even more 'socially acceptable'. Whether you intend it as a joke or not is irrelevant.

Football is still very much a man's world, and I can only imagine how hard it must have been for Sian Massey to get as far as she has already. There are 26,000 referees registered with the FA, and women make up just 3%. Only three women, Sian included, officiate in professional football. Only one woman has ever refereed a Football League match.

So can someone please explain why Sian Massey has been withdrawn from her duties as assistant referee for tonight's game between Crewe and Bradford? What, in any of this drama, has she done wrong? She did her job, she made the right calls, some idiots couldn't handle a woman doing a good job in a 'man's profession' - and now she's being punished? They say it's so the attention is on the game, not on her, but how is that not punishing her? All I can see is she did her job, and now for reasons that have nothing to do with her she's being prevented from doing it. How is that not punishing her too?
