Is anyone else sick of hearing about Susan Boyle?
To be honest, I was sick of the whole thing right from the start. Yes, she has a good voice, but I've heard better and I wasn't blown away. I found the whole thing unbearably patronising - 'oh look, the dowdy Scottish lady can sing...awwww'. If a young twenty-something blonde stepped onstage and sang like that, no-one would blink. But a frumpy middle-aged woman...dear God! It's a miracle. Yeah, whatever.
And now I just feel sorry for her. Who goes from nowhere to global fame in thirty seconds? Not even A-list singers and actors do it that fast. No wonder she's having a meltdown. The kindest thing anyone could do for her right now is leave her alone, but that's not going to happen, is it?
And seriously, she's not that bloody good.
