The cynic in me says the only reason the government has finally backed down is because it needs a bit of good publicity right now, but I don't really care why they're doing it, only that they are. This is the least the Gurkhas deserve, and it's an absolute disgrace that it's taken this long and has required an protracted campaign through the courts and the media to achieve something that ought to have been given to them without asking.
