I keep seeing Equus on DVD in the library and being really tempted to get it out. Because, you know, Peter Firth! And he was nominated for an Oscar for this film. And I remember reading the play way back in school and being really upset by the horse mutilation. All perfectly good reasons for me to watch the movie...
Except...well...it's Peter Firth. He's so young in this movie, so young and cute and slim and he's got hair! Masses of fluffy curly hair, bless him. And I just can't get my head around that. In my head he's Harry. And I love Harry. I adore Harry. But Harry is not young and he's not cute and he certainly doesn't have masses of fluffy curly hair. I'm not sure I could cope with a young cute Harry. I might never look at Spooks the same way. I might have visions of a young hell-raiser Harry running around blinding horses, and trust me, that would scar me for life. And Jenny Agutter is in it too, Tessa in Spooks, for you uninformed. Watching this movie might seriously alter the way I watch Spooks, and you know, I like my Spooks viewing just the way it is.
Plus, he gets naked and I'm not sure I'm ready for the Harry Pearce full monty just yet.
I think I'll wait until the series is over before watching Equus.
