I've just been potentially offered another job, the one I interviewed for on Monday, the high-powered and intimidating one that I couldn't name. I actually came out of that interview feeling a bit dubious - I didn't feel that I'd done particularly well and I felt I fluffed some of the questions. But they want me to come back for a second interview/informal chat, to actually see the library and meet my potential co-workers prior to being offered the position, because obviously with the security issues I wasn't allowed on the main site for the interview. Colour me shocked. I actually met one of the other candidates for the job after I came out of the interview - she was about ten years older, much more experienced and was already working in a technical library! And they want me? Erm...
So now I don't know what to do! The money's better at this job down in Reading, but I've already verbally accepted the Northampton job offer and considering when they want me to start I can't put them off until after the second interview at Reading. And considering this Reading one isn't a definite job offer - probable, but not definite - I don't feel I can turn down a definite job offer for the possibility of an offer. Added to which, I much preferred the Northampton library and it's much more in keeping with where I see my career progressing, since it's a college library. I don't want to get stuck in the technical library niche. And the people seemed nicer and the whole atmosphere was a lot more relaxed and informal. Plus, it potentially comes with a free flat if I choose to be a warden in one of the student housing blocks.
Oh help. This is so bloody typical!
