Okay, well, they pissed me off right away, but shoving the whole 'HE WAS IN A COMA AND KILLED HIMSELF' thing.
They're even recreating the mysterious flashbacks? Ohh-kay...
Okay, I loved Gene's entrance. And Ray beating up the suspect. And Alex fainting at seeing Gene. *giggles* That was awesome. But...I miss the Cortina. And I don't like Gene's hair.
I did like Alex trying to convince herself, trying to rationalise her predicament, coming up with explanations. And waiting for Zippy from Rainbow to talk to her.
Zippy and George! Loved them.
So this is just basically Life on Mars with a woman and in the 80s? That's the only difference? What a cop-out. They're not even trying to make it different.
SAM DIED? SAM DIED? SAM FUCKING WELL DIED? *hates* *stabs* *hates*
Okay, the mime is scarier than the Test Card Girl.
The only bit I liked is the implication that Gene left Manchester because of Sam's death and has articles about him on his pinboard. EVEN THOUGH I HATE THE FACT THAT YOU BASTARDS KILLED SAM JUST TO EXPLAIN WHY HE WASN'T THERE! That and the fact that Gene is still awesome, although he's a bit more subdued and calmer.
So you know what? I didn't like it. Not really. There were bits that were okay, but overall I was very disappointed. Life on Mars worked partly because it was new and fresh and different and interesting. This isn't. It's more of the same, except now with 'added sexual tension'! I found about twenty minutes in my attention was wandering and I was browsing LJ. That never happened with Life on Mars. This...it's trying too hard, you know?
