One thing you can always rely on in England - when returning from holiday, whatever time of year, whatever time of day, the weather will always suck. Just to reinforce what you're leaving behind. 'Tis raining. Joy.
I've had a lovely week in Portugal at my parents' holiday apartment - very relaxed and chilled out. Other than a day at a waterpark and a morning's parasailing, it was mostly just sunbathing and swimming at the pool, interspersed with eating out. Very low-key. And the weather was beautiful - sun all day and temperatures in the mid to low 30s.
That said, I either picked up a stomach bug on the plane or something I ate disagreed with me, because I spent the second day of my holiday violently throwing up. I haven't been so sick in years. Not pleasant. Thankfully it was only a day's duration, but it took until the end of the next day before my appetite returned at all. Still, I was hoping to avoid gaining weight on the holiday - though that wasn't what I had in mind!
