Those of you who new round here may not realise I'm a big football fan, Manchester United specifically. You'll be able to get an idea from the tags! I've not blogged about it as much as I used to, mainly because those LJ friends who were also in football and/or Manchester United aren't around anymore, there didn't seem much point posting about it when no-one would respond, and quite frankly, since Alex Ferguson retired there's been little to summon up much enthusiasm about!
Anyway, my favourite United player was Gary Neville. I loved the grumpy sod. Still do. Not for me your flashy high-profile players like David Beckham or Ryan Giggs or Cristiano Ronaldo. And I just discovered he's bought a luxury mansion about three miles from me. That's not the weird part. The England football team training base at St George's Park is about five miles away, and Gary Neville is an England coach, so it's not so odd that he'd live nearby.
The weird part is that this luxury mansion used to be my old primary school. It's been closed for about ten years now, but two years ago it was bought for conversion. And it's just... My favourite player living in a house I'm so intimately familiar with. I used to build dens in his woods. I would run around the grounds in my gym knickers. I played egg and spoon races in his front garden. I learned ballet and tap in his living room.
I don't know, it just feels weird!
