Oh, 'tis only an eclipse.
I missed the last solar eclipse in England. It was about, oh, sixteen years ago, I think? And I was in school in Australia at the time, so, you know, other side of the planet and all.
Not that I'll see much of this one, being at work and entirely lacking in special glasses or a pinhole camera. Still, there's a lot of "Does it look darker outside? I think it's looking darker. It's definitely a bit darker" going on in our office at the moment.
There's something about an eclipse. Even though we no longer panic and sacrifice to the Sun God (although I'm quite happy to volunteer any and all of our politicians should one be required), even though we fully understand all the science behind it - I don't know, there's still something special about the sun being blotted out.
And it definitely is darker out there...
