I just got up at 7am on a Sunday morning to go for a run. What is wrong with me?
I quite like this Couch-to-5k programme. It certainly starts you off at a manageable pace - the first run was five minutes of walking, followed by six intervals of running for a minute and walking for a minute and a half, then five minutes of cool-down walking. Today, the second run, was the same but eight intervals of walking and running.
I'm still not convinced that in nine weeks I'll be running for half an hour without stopping, but we'll see. I probably wouldn't have said I could even run for eight minutes today, albeit eight minutes interspersed with walking but even so.
I wanted to try getting into running now, as I pretty much have two weeks off over Christmas and since my gym is the uni gym at work, if I'm not at work I probably won't be going to the gym. Quite apart from the fact that since the uni is closed the gym is too for most of the Christmas break. And I didn't particularly want two weeks of Christmas eating and no exercise. So I figured I'd start now and hopefully in six weeks by Christmas I'll be well on my way! Fingers crossed, at least.
